Orthotic Technician (Chastain)

SUMMARY:

The Foot Orthotic Technician is responsible for excellent customer service, greeting all patients, ensuring completion of all orthotic paperwork, scheduling fittings appointments, scanning and fittings for the orthotics, and educating the patient on the monies due at the time of service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Other duties may be assigned)
  • Gait Analysis (scanning the patient)
  • Translates doctor’s orthotics prescription into an electronic order
  • Run Superbills and document patient’s financial responsibility
  • Follow-up appointment with orthotics patients for confirmation of appropriate product, fitting and use instructions.
  • Follow-up that a fitting appointment has been scheduled and orthotics are in at the time of an appointment.
  • Have patient’s sign necessary forms.
  • Returns to FootMaxx for incorrect foot orthotics and reordering correct orthotics.
  • Returns to FootMaxx for credit and coordinating credits with administrative personnel.
  • Customer calls regarding problems with the orthotics (not medical or billing)
  • Keeping records of gait analysis reports reviewed and signed by physician on a monthly basis.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate with the medical staff on duties and flow of clinic.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experienced Orthotic Technician
  • One year of experience in customer service or reception, preferably in a health care environment.

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Basic Computer skills
  • Strong customer service
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in all written and oral communications, including email.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Demonstrated conflict management skills

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and to talk and hear. Employee may be occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
